Counterfeit money warning issued, as fake notes circulating
The police issued a warning on Saturday to members of the public to be on the lookout for counterfeit notes.
Multiple notes have been discovered within the last 24 hours.
The discovery was made during processing subsequent to monies being tendered as payment at one of the island’s international airports.
The notes are all JMD $1000 notes and bear the serial number CC174514.
Persons are asked to take the necessary precautions when dealing with cash, and should any counterfeits be found, individuals are asked to immediately contact the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC) at 967-1389.
