Vybz Kartel Drops Dancehall’s Biggest Album In The Last 5 Years, Crushes Rihanna & Justin Beiber on US Chart! (MUST READ)
Vybz Kartel may be incarcerated but he’s clearly not silenced as his music continues to roam free and speak to the world for him.
The jailed dancehall deejay’s 14 track project titled King of the Dancehall released just a few hours ago has landed in the number one position on the US Top Reggae albums chart and also number in most countries worldwide.
The album produced independently by Linton TJ White from TJ Records and distributed by Zojak World Wide, is ahead of Falling into Place by Rebelution at number 2 and Legend (Remastered) by Bob Marley & The Wailers and number 3.
Another achievement for King of the Dancehall is that it is number 33 on the US mainsteam albums chart. This means that Vybz Kartel in going up against all the big names in the music industry such as Adele, Beyonce and Drake. Vybz Kartel is ahead of Rihanna which stands at number 37 and Justin Beiber at number 74. The only other reggae or dancehall artist featured on the chart is Bob Marley at number 80 with his Legend (Remastered).
King of the Dancehall features one collab with fellow dancehall deejay Demarco.
Fever, the first single from the deejay’s King of the Dancehall album released just a month ago with the accompanying video has had more than 2 million views already. The raunchy video was directed by Jay Will and Game Over features a girl in heat because of her lust-induced dreams.
All in all, it is a good look for reggae and dancehall on the international front.
