Multiple news reports confirmed on Thursday that the late music legend died from a Opioid overdose. This may not come as any surprise to us given the numerous reports shortly after his death about his struggle with drug addiction.
Minneapolis Star Tribune cited sources close to the investigation of Prince’s death as saying that the 57-year-old died at his home from an overdose of painkillers. His death on April 21 was just a day before he was scheduled to meet with a doctor to help kick his addiction.
His body was discovered in an elevator by two members of his staffs, Kirk Johnson and personal assistant Meron Bekure, at approximately 9:40 a.m. They called 911 but he was pronounced dead at his Paisley Park home.
Less than a week before his death, Prince private plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois after he fell ill on the flight. He was also treated the day before by a doctor for opioid withdrawal symptoms. Seems he tried desperately to kick the habit but it didn’t work.
