Persons travelling to Jamaica from countries experiencing an outbreak in the mosquito borne – Zika virus, will be screened at the ports of entry, according to the health ministry.
The virus is spread by infected specific mosquito-carriers, and already Jamaicans are being urged to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus to the island.
Brazil is currently experiencing an outbreak of the Zika virus. It has not been detected in the Caribbean.
