Jamaica Invitational: Asafa Powell Runs Brilliant 100m, Wins In 9.84 Seconds, The Fastest in 2015
KINGSTON, Jamaica:
Asafa Powell was brilliant in winning the men’s 100m in a world leading 9.84 seconds at the Jamaica International Invitational on Saturday night.
Stepping high to the line and with public enemy number one Ryan Bailey from the United States fighting his way back into second place, Powell registered his 87th sub – 10 seconds time to send the National Stadium crowd in a frenzy.
Bailey took second place in 9.93 seconds with Nesta Carter taking third in 9.98 seconds.
In the women’s 100m, Elaine Thompson showed that she was the real deal, turning back and impressive field to take the event in 10.97 ahead of Blessing Okagbare 11.05 and Allyson Felix 11.09.
