Jamaica Gov’t to spend millions on security of Driver’s Licence System
The Government is shelling out millions of dollars to ensure the security of the Driver’s Licence System.
Cabinet approved the award of a contract in the amount of £253,449.00 or J$43.4 million to De La Rue international Limited, trading as De La Rue Identity Systems, for the provision of maintenance and support services to the Driver’s Licence System operated by the Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ).
The Government said that the Driver’s Licence System operates as an end-to-end solution, that is, the supplier of the system provides all the hardware and/or software components and resources to meet the TAJ’s requirement.
It said that in order for the system to work efficiently, all the component parts have to be in proper working condition to produce licences.
