Kentucky Kid Death: Cops Charge For Murdering Entertainer (VIDEO)

Family and friends of slain dancehall artist Kentucky Kid could be getting some reprieve after three cops and two civilians were charged with his murder.

Kentucky Kid, whose real name is Robert Hill, was shot and killed on December 8, 2009 at his home in Ivy Green Mews in what police say was a shootout.

A jury at the Kingston and St Andrew Coroner’s Court rule on Tuesday that the five be charged with murder following the death of the artist.

Special Corporal Uriel Anderson, Constable Gary Thomas, Special Constable Norval Warren, Marvia Morgan (civilian) and Donovan Brown (civilian) were all charge with the murder.

Before his untimely death, Kentucky Kid expressed his fear for his life to the Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) and Police Public Complaints Authority (PPCA).

Kentucky Kid also uploaded a number of videos on You Tube before his death outlining the reasons why he was in fear of his life.

Jamaica’s human rights group has also released a statement praising the verdict.

“JFJ represented the family of Robert Hill during the coroner’s inquest, as it has done for over 100 families of deceased persons in the past two years. The organisation is heartened by INDECOM’s work in this matter.”

“JFJ notes that it took the state apparatus more than four years and eight months to arrive at a decision to charge persons in relation to Mr Hill’s death. This matter will now proceed to the Circuit Court for trial. JFJ calls for a thorough and expeditious prosecution of the matter. This would represent another step in the arduous quest for justice for the family of Mr Hill. While this ruling is welcome news, we remind the State that justice delayed is justice denied.”

Shortly before his death, Kentucky Kid released a hit single titled “Prediction.”

He was 37 years old at the time of his murder.
