Kingston Collage wins 2014 Schools’ Challenge Quiz, Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston College has extended its dominance in the Television Jamaica Schools’ Challenge Quiz competition after clipping first-time finalist, Campion College on the sound of the bell 27-25.
This makes 11 times the North Street-based school is claiming the championship title.
It was Campion who took the early lead in the match scoring three points before Kingston College scored its first point.
At the end of the first of the three-segment competition, Campion pushed its lead to six-four.
However, in the ensuing speed segment where the teams were given three alternate 60-second periods to answer as many questions, KC stepped up its game to tie 21-21.
Campion would bounce back in the buzzer segment and take the lead but lost crucial points towards the end and was eventually nipped by Kingston College 27-25 on the sound of the bell that signaled the end of the match.
“What truly defines our character is how we respond to adversity,” said Scott Lee Young, the Kingston College quiz captain.
Kingston College has received the championship trophy and several other prizes.
