Usain Bolt Seemingly Unbothered by Robots Breaking His 100m Record Twice! (WATCH)

Usain Bolt is yet to publicly react after two Chinese humanoid robots recorded a faster 100-metre time than his long-standing world record, in recent days.

A humanoid robot clocked 8.86 seconds in Beijing on Tuesday during China’s World Humanoid Robot Games, beating the 9.58 seconds recorded by Bolt in Berlin in 2009.

Bolt has not issued an official public statement or reaction to humanoid robots outpacing his 100-metre world record. He has also not made any social media post about the robot’s performance or left any notably public comments on the development.

Instead, the Jamaican sprint legend has been focused on celebrating his engagement to longtime girlfriend Kasi Bennett. Bolt proposed to Bennett during his 40th birthday celebrations, with photos showing him on one knee before the couple later embraced.

The robot’s 8.86-second run also broke the previous humanoid robot record of 9.39 seconds, which had been set just three days earlier. In videos now making rounds online, the record-breaking machines experienced a dramatic finish, falling after crossing the line and crashing into a padded barrier.

China’s World Humanoid Robot Games feature more than 1,000 robots competing across 51 events, including sprinting, long jump, table tennis and ballroom dancing.

The competition is also being used to showcase China’s progress in robotics as technological competition between China and the United States continues.

While the robot’s time is faster than Bolt’s 9.58-second mark, the comparison is between a machine and a human athlete under different conditions. Bolt’s record remains the recognised men’s 100m world record in athletics.
