Estimated J$1 Billion Cocaine Seizure Leads to Multiple Arrests at Kingston Container Terminal
Several employees at the Kingston Container Terminal have been taken into custody as authorities investigate a suspected drug smuggling operation at the facility.
The multi-agency operation is being conducted by the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) and the Jamaica Customs Agency, with support from the Specialised Operations Branch.
Reports of the operation was made public on Friday, August 7, following the seizure of cocaine valued at approximately JMD$1 billion earlier this week.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the employees detained or provided details on the specific allegations against them. However, the individuals are suspected of being connected to a drug smuggling syndicate allegedly operating at the container terminal.
The latest operation forms part of ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the cocaine seizure and how the shipment entered or moved through the facility.
Law enforcement personnel from the participating agencies remain engaged in the operation as investigators work to establish the full extent of the suspected network.
Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
