‘Jamming’ scores 2x platinum for Bob Marley in the UK
Jamming was originally featured on Bob Marley and the Wailers’ 1977 RIAA gold-certified album Exodus, which currently sits at #10 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The song also appears on Legend, the best-selling reggae album of all time.
Upon its initial release, Jamming reached #9 on the UK Singles Chart in 1977 and peaked at #99 in Australia. A decade later, following Bob Marley’s death, the song was re-released as a tribute and charted at #38 in Belgium and #85 in the Netherlands.
In 1999, Jamming was given a fresh update when Stephen Marley remixed the track and incorporated vocals from American rapper MC Lyte. The remix was included on Chant Down Babylon, a 1999 album produced by Stephen Marley that featured hip-hop and rock artists reinterpreting songs by Bob Marley and the Wailers.
The remixed version of Jamming enjoyed international chart success, reaching #10 in Spain, #42 on the UK Singles Chart, #54 in the Netherlands, and #59 in Sweden.
Jamming was previously certified 3x platinum (90,000) in New Zealand and gold (20,000) in Portugal.
