Laing says Kartel “Shouldn’t choose December… is like him a look war”
The organisers of Sting, notably Tahheer Laing and father Isaiah Laing are not happy with Vybz Kartel choosing a December date for his first show after prison release. According to Tahheer Laing, he would rather have Vybz Kartel on Sting 2024 Instead of competing. The young promoter highlights that he would be willing to give Kartel a night of his own.
Sting has been around since 1984 and 2024 is scheduled to be the first time that the show has three nights, a step away from the usual one-night show. While most Jamaicans and Dancehall fans were looking forward to Sting being the biggest end-of-year show for 2024, since Vybz Kartel announced that his show would be in December, that perception has changed.
The latest updates regarding Kartel’s show are that he will be working with Skatta and Joe, and he’s calling on fans to assist him in choosing a name for the event, however, a date is yet to be announced. Notably, Sting’s big night of performances, the first night of the three days is scheduled for December 26, the event will end on the 28th after two smaller shows at different locations.
Prior to his nearly 13 years of incarceration, Vybz Kartel and the former main man of Sting Isaiah Laing have been at odds. However, In an interview with the Jamaica Star, Laing stated, “Mek him come get him glory. But don’t come pon my pathway in December. Him shouldn’t choose December because when him duh dat now, is like him a look war.”
The outspoken former law-enforcer went on to state that he did the “greatest things pon dis Earth ya fi” Kartel. He next detailed “Not even yuh enemy yuh nuh want inna [prison], suh mi glad seh him come out. But him just affi know seh, outta road kinda different from 14 years ago and him affi just humble and learn di place, because right now him brain a move fast.”
