Drake To Donate Profits From Rock In Rio Merch To Protect Amazon Rainforest
Drake and his official merchandise company, TourLife announced that they are donating all proceeds from his Rock in Rio t-shirt to the organization Amazon Conservation Team.
Tourlife shared the news on Instagram posting a picture of the shirt with the caption, “Dropping tomorrow at 12PM PST/ 3PM EST on Tourlife.com to support local Amazonian communities on the front lines in the fight against fires and deforestation in the Amazon with all proceeds of the Drake exclusive tee going towards Dr. Mark J. Plotkin’s foundation The Amazon Conservation Team.”
Amazon Conservation Team took to Twitter to announce the project as well and to express their gratitude, “Our heartfelt thanks go out to @Drake and @TourLife for supporting Amazonian indigenous communities and the rainforest!”
Back in August, Brazil’s Amazon rainforest made headlines after experiencing record breaking forest fires. As of Aug. 26, Brazil has had over 72 thousand fires in 2019. Over half of that number took place in the Amazon region alone.
Drake is headlining the Rock in Rio festival, which is set to take place from September 27th through to October 6th. Drizzy will hit the stage with a few big names in the industry like Black Eyed Peas, H.E.R. and more. Drake will be performing on the final night.
Hats off to Drake for this huge move showcasing his charitable side, definitely a step in the right direction.
