Queen Of Dancehall Spice Shed Tears As Chaos Erupts At Back To School Treat
Spice was moved to tears on Tuesday at her annual back to school treat.
The Queen of Dancehall has apologized profusely for the chaos that took place during her Back-to-school treat today, acknowledging that she had underestimated the turnout would have been so massive. Spice was in for a surprise when she staged her back-to-school treat on Tuesday at the Marverly Gospel Hall in Kingston, which she then realized was “oversubscribed.” There was an overwhelming crowd crammed into the space resulting in the artiste not being able to get the children to form lines, as she said she would have expected.
“I’d like to apologize to the children who left disappointed today at my back to school give away @gracehamilton.wef. I too left in tears as I didn’t have enough to give. This video is when I left the front and went to the back of the crowd to make sure that kids at the back was getting before I ran out of bags . Thanks to who came on board but there’s so much more we can do so I’m still asking others to reach out [email protected] I promise to make this bigger and better next time and definitely more organized please forgive me for underestimating. BY THE WAY THE CROWD WAS TOO THICK TO FORM A LINE SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DO IT THIS WAY,” she said.
She was consoled by fellow artistes Ce’Cile, Foota Hype, and Konshens.
“There’s just More demand than your supply today sis!!! I could barely get inside….. people won’t see the inside where a lot of people were neatly seated waiting in order, the chaos on the outside will be louder but hey! A so it go. You did great!!!” Ce’Cile wrote.
Foota Hype used the opportunity to take a swipe at the Church in Jamaica.
“U did well u did better than the church God will bless u,” he wrote, while Konshens told her: “U are a champion.”
Not too long after, Spice had some excellent news for the children who had left the venue with nothing.
“If you did not receive back your booklist please wait on my post tomorrow with more information where to pick up your books or book list @gracehamilton_wef,” she posted on Instagram.
Spice had been announcing over the last several weeks that her back to school treat would have to been held on August 20. She had posted photographs of the school supplies which included a large number of Jansport backpacks of varying colours. That may have spiked the interest of youngsters, as the brand is a staple amongst high school students in particular.
The artiste went on a series of shopping sprees for her charitable event after announcing that her Grace Hamilton Women Empowerment Foundation, would be paying school fees, buying uniforms, school shoes, and “taking care of book lists.”
