‘We need Jesus, not the crime bill,’ says Senator Frazer Binns
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Opposition Senator Sophia Frazer-Binns says that what Jamaica needs in order to reduce the spate of violence and murders is “Jesus” and not a new crime Bill.
“Jesus is what we need and the Bible” Frazer-Binns told Parliament in the debate on the new “Zones of Special Operations” Crime Bill today.
The Senate met at Gordon House in an effort to complete the debate on the bill, but contributions by the Opposition have drawn out the proceedings for the past seven hours.
This has delayed its passage, despite the fact that Leader of the Opposition Dr Peter Phillips and Opposition MPs in the House of Representatives accepted it after 32 amendments last week Wednesday and gave it their blessings.
“I am unable to support this Bill,” Frazer-Binns said in closing her presentation this evening.
