Dancehall Artiste Masicka: “Mi a one a the greatest Dancehall artistes them to ever grace the music”

Masicka’s most recent interview was aired Wednesday night, an exclusive 1-on-1 interview with Dionne Jackson Miller on All Angles. In the interview, he talked on his musical journey, albums, collaborations, new music and feuds. As it relates to the debate about many of his songs sounding similar, Masicka stated that some people feel that way because all of his songs are hit songs.

Minutes later he went on to state that he believes he’s one of the greatest Dancehall artistes in History, “Generally mi a one a the greatest Dancehall artistes them to ever grace the music, personally… That’s how mi get up and feel everyday.” The Portmore native went on to detail that others should believe in themselves just as much.

As per Masicka, nowadays, he has been getting the recognition he was not getting prior to recent years. After 438 and GOK albums he started to get more credit from the fans, he also blamed himself for being laid back in the past and less active on social media, something he has since changed.

“From mi get the break, i have never had a bad year in my career,” says Masicka who also outlines that most of his critics are acting off, “jealousy”.

As it relates to him dissing Vybz Kartel lyrically, Masicka detailed that Vybz kartel was merely caught in the cross fire, and noted they only spoke twice and despite him being one of his favourite artistes, he’s not his don, “remember me and Vybz Kartel cool, we a nuh friend,” he went on to talk on his first collab with Kartel and performing at Kartel’s son birthday party for free.

He highlighted that things changed when Vybz Kartel started supporting Tommy Lee’s diss songs against him. When asked about the spat with the Gaza, Masicka said his career grew from the clash. “Mi career have grown tremendously from that,” he said, detailing that he gained a lot of new fans and respect because he was standing on his own without a boss.

As per Masicka, “them si the thing and a try crush it,” noting that he has been getting a bad wrap because he calls himself the goat and the king. “Yuh affi speak it into existence, that’s how manifesting work, the people dem tek it too serious and tek it to heart.”
