Twin Brothers Marry Twin Sisters in Rare Double Wedding in Nigeria
A rare wedding ceremony in Nigeria has captured widespread attention online after a pair of twin brothers exchanged vows with a pair of twin sisters during a double wedding celebration in Ibadan.
Photos and videos from the event have been making the rounds on social media, with many users expressing amazement at the unique pairing. The ceremony took place on Saturday, June 20, following a traditional wedding celebration held the day before.
Adding to the unusual nature of the occasion, one of the brothers, Taiwo, married a twin sister who also bears the name Taiwo. His brother, Kehinde, tied the knot with the second twin sister, who is likewise named Kehinde. The matching names among both sets of twins quickly became a talking point online.
Ahead of the white wedding, the grooms, Oguntoye Kehinde Oladele and Oguntoye Taiwo Oye, shared images from their engagement and traditional wedding ceremony on Instagram. In a joint post, the brothers thanked supporters and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love surrounding the occasion.
“Twins wed twins!!! Yesterday’s traditional wedding was simply amazing! We are grateful to God and everyone who celebrated with us. Today is the grand finale as the most famous twins in African tourism say ‘I Do’,” they wrote.
The wedding attracted attention not only because of the couples’ twin status but also due to the rarity of identical family pairings occurring in the same ceremony. Images from the event showed the newlyweds dressed in coordinated wedding attire as family members and guests gathered to celebrate the union.
Social media users across Africa and beyond have been sharing the photos, with many describing the ceremony as one of the most unusual and memorable weddings they have seen.
