Hence, news of his arrest again has been drawing attention online. The caption for the social media post reads, “Breaking Dante Brooks, son of dancehall giant Mavado is currently in police custody.”

It continues, “Dante, was freed in appeal court earlier this yr after some 7 yrs in confinement for charges related to murder. Mavado returned to Jamaica last wk after 7 yrs #DevelopingStory.”
This arrest would take place a week after Mavado returns to the island. The reason for the arrest was not revealed, as the story is is still developing.
Brooks was charged with gun-related offences on Wednesday, he was charged with assault at common law, unlawful wounding, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a prohibited weapon to commit a scheduled offence.
Dantay Brooks was sentenced back in 2018, after being convicted of murder, however, the conviction was overturned by the Court of Appeal in March 2025.
On the hand, after meeting with the Constant Spring Police in St Andrew, last week, the arrest warrant issued for Mavado back in 2018 was vacated, meaning it is no longer in effect.
Dantay’s reported arrest also comes a day after it was announced that Mavado will be performing in St. Ann on December 27.
