Diddy Sentenced to 4 Years for Related Prostitution Crimes
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison following his conviction in July on two prostitution-related charges. The sentence, handed down by Judge Arun Subramanian on Friday, September 3 also included a $500,000 fine, the maximum allowed by law.
Combs, 55, will serve approximately 36 months after being credited for the 13 months already spent in custody. He appeared subdued in court, with his head bowed and hands clasped, as the judge delivered the ruling.
Before sentencing, Combs issued an apology to his family, friends, and former partners, calling his behaviour “disgusting, shameful and sick.” He admitted that his children “deserve better” and said he had failed his mother as a son. “I knew better!… my mother raised me better than that,” he also stated.
Judge Subramanian stressed that the punishment was necessary to “send a message” that exploitation and violence against women would not be tolerated. He dismissed the defence’s portrayal of Combs’ so-called “freak-offs” as consensual or harmless, describing them instead as exploitative.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik argued that Combs continued to downplay his crimes, noting he had already booked speaking engagements in anticipation of an early release. “That is the height of hubris, your honour,” she said.
Outside the courtroom, a Fox News reporter described the sentence as lenient, adding that another judge may have imposed a harsher penalty. They also suggested the widely circulated video of Combs assaulting Cassie influenced the final outcome.
Despite the reduced term, the ruling marks a significant fall from grace for the once-celebrated music mogul.
As per Lisa Evers, Diddy was ‘Completely emotionless’ after being told that he was sentenced to 50 months by the judge.
