Marion Hall (Lady Saw) Receives U.S. Green Card
Marion Hall, the Jamaican-born artiste formerly known as Lady Saw, continues to chart a transformative course in both her personal and professional life since her dramatic shift from Queen of Dancehall to daughter of God, an ordained minister.
After being baptized in December 2015, Hall made a decision to leave Jamaica and relocate to the United States. She moved to Florida in early 2016, shortly after performing at a gospel concert in Lauderdale Lakes. Since then, she has remained stateside, dedicating her life to ministry and gospel music.
While she once dominated the global Dancehall scene with raw, unapologetic lyrics, Hall’s reinvention as Minister Marion Hall has been just as commanding. But behind her public persona lies a quieter, more personal journey, one shaped by faith, heartbreak, and resilience.
In a sermon delivered in May 2024, Hall made a rare revelation about her marital history: “I was married and now divorced, but I am still married to Jesus,” she told congregants. The statement confirmed that she had been married, though details about the identity of her ex-husband remain private.
She was also engaged twice to producer John John during their 18-year relationship, which ultimately ended due to alleged infidelity.
At a recently held ceremony in Tamarac Florida where she was conferred with a Medal of Honour, Hall confirmed that she had just received her U.S. green card the day before. “To be standing next to you, to be honoured… It’s in America! I just got my green card yesterday,” she declared proudly during her speech.
This marks a significant personal milestone for Hall, who previously held a U.S. green card during her Dancehall career. However, it was revoked around early 2018, according to her manager, due to visa complications. Her recent success in regaining permanent residency symbolizes not just legal stability, but also a new chapter in her ongoing spiritual and professional journey in the United States.
Hall’s new focus is fixed on what she calls “Kingdom work.” While her past as Lady Saw still looms large in Dancehall history, her dedication to kingdom building is marked by purpose, reflection, and unwavering faith.

Minister Marion Hall was denied “O1” US Visa when she applied during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The O1 visa is a non-resident temporary worker visa that is normally granted to aliens with extraordinary abilities in athletics, the sciences, arts, education or business.
“When I was Lady Saw, I got all these O1 visas. They’re given to people of status, like celebrities. In this time here, when the virus is going around, I couldn’t believe that I just now get the letter of denial to say, since you’ve become a gospel artiste, we no longer see you as that person with status,” the former reigning Queen of the Dancehall said as she responded to the denial back then.
