Beenie Man Defends ‘King of Dancehall’ Status

Vybz Kartel has been touting himself as the current ‘King of Dancehall’ ignoring Beenie Man‘s claim to the throne in a recent OnstageTV interview. “Kartel a the King, suh a nuh nutt’n new,” he stated in the interview.

Bounty Killer also hailed Vybz Kartel as a king at Freedom Street, stating, “This man is a lyrical genius… Dancehall pharaoh… and a don’t want you to feel like you are taking anybody’s throne, you built your own independently.”

Bounty continued, “The only man, round yah weh never signed to a international label and sell gold and silver inna prison, a king as risen.”

Following those statements, a video surfaced of Beenie Man declaring that there is “one King, one clown” in Dancehall. He also outlines that there is “one throne, one crown” in his short statement.

Reacting to Beenie Man’s statement, on YouTube user wrote, “Beenie man a King always, style in a dance hall, king always best appearance no questions asked,” another person said, “Bwoy kartel and Beenie a two legends in dem own right.”
