Tanto Blacks Wanted In Connection With Fraud

Tanto Blacks, Dancehall entertainer, and former Magnum Kings and Queens (MKQ) contestant is wanted by officers of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (CTOC) in connection with fraud-related charges.

This was revealed in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court when the entertainer’s co-accused, 2009 male winner of the MKQ competition, Poor and Boasy, real name Omar Johnson pled guilty to conspiracy to defraud, uttering counterfeit documents, and collecting money utilizing false pretence, however, pled not guilty to the forgery charge.

According to reports, both entertainers allegedly approached a businessman at his place of work on May 30 and presented USD 250 asking for it to be changed to Jamaican currency. Two days after, the complainant stated that Johnson returned with an envelope containing USD 100 notes, totalling USD 1000. This envelope he stated was received from Junior Henry, which is Tanto Black’s birth name.

Johnson reportedly strike a deal with the complainant by telling him that Henry is asking him to keep the envelope with the USD in exchange for JMD 70,000 until June 8, when they would return for the money and repay the amount borrowed. This was subsequently agreed to by the businessman, however, later discovered that the US dollars were fake, all bearing the same serial number.

During Johnson’s appearance in court on Tuesday before Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque, he stated that the envelope he received was sealed, therefore, had no knowledge that the money inside was counterfeit.

He is scheduled to return to court on November 21.
