Vybz Kartel Likely To Already Be Under Investigation From One Don Trial’s Witness Testimony
Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, is now in the hot seat again even amid his ongoing murder conviction that he is currently making efforts to appeal.
The latest controversy came when one of the witnesses testified in the trial against the 33 members of the “One Don” faction of the klansman gang. According to the witness who mentioned the Entertainer’s name as a part of the ring of criminal activities that the organisation carried out, Kartel allegedly ordered hits on at least three persons via the gangsters of the accused group.
According to Assistant Commissioner of police Clinton Laing, who spoke to the Jamaica Gleaner, a report would have been made regarding the situation of Vybz Kartel in the initial claim brought to the police by the witness. As such ACP Laing stated that the matter would have already been under investigation, especially because no names were revealed.
The Director of public prosecutions, Paula Llewelyn was contacted on the matter however refused to comment.
According to Isat Buchannan, the attorney in charge of the artiste’s current case report on the situation, stating that the testimony by the witness will have no bearing on the current and future cases of Kartel since it is usual for persons who received plea bargains to say things that might reduce their sentence.
According to Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of security, Matthew Samuda, he had nothing to say where is the deejay’s name being called up in the witness testimony of the “One Don” trial but holds a similar perspective to the Minister of Security Horace Chang who have spoken about persons operating gangs from prison and ordering criminal activities from their location to be executed.
