JAMAICA Government Welcomes Vybz Kartel Push To Take Vaccine
The Attorney at Law for incarcerated Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel has expressed that the entertainer has said he would love to be vaccinated. Luckily for the “Worl Boss”, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Christopher Tufton along with his opposition Morais Guy has said that they are on board with the move.
According to Isat Buchannan, who recently put the motion out about the entertainer being opened to be vaccinated, the move would be of great benefit to the Government’s mass vaccination plan since dancehall music has an unmatched influence on the people.
With that being said, the Attorney is making it clear that Vybz Kartel as well as other entertainers have much value that should be recognized.
Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies, Carolyn Cooper, also spoke on the matter in an article she wrote to the Jamaica Gleaner, expressing that Prime Minister Andrew Holness should seek the assistance of the deejay to help spread the message of mass vaccination across to the people.
According to Christopher Tufton, he is welcoming any support that Vybz Kartel can give towards the vaccination program, in addition to him getting the jab.
The same opinion is also being shared by the Minister’s opposition, Dr. Morais Guy who states that even though the entertainer is currently serving a sentence, his influence must be recognized and they would be happy to welcome him to do a jingle to help the vaccination campaign.
The Government is currently on a trajectory, to get 65 percent of the population fully vaccinated by March of next year, hoping that at least 700,000 persons get the jab by that time
