Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh Wins Miss World 2019
Congratulations to Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh for winning the Miss World 2019 pageant.
Jamaica has added another Miss World title to the vault as St. Thomas’ own Toni-Ann Singh was crowned Miss World 2019 in London on December 14. The entire Caribbean is currently in celebratory mode, but especially the entire island of Jamaica will be celebrating for the rest of the year. Singh was crowned by Mexico’s Vanessa Ponce, who is her predecessor. France’s Ophely Mezino was crowned the first runner up, and India’s Suman Rao was crowned second runner up.
Toni-Ann Singh was among a large group of 114 contestants vying for the 39th edition of the Miss World pageant, one of the world’s oldest beauty pageant. She joined an elite group of women who’ve won the crown over the years, including Lisa Hanna, who won in 1993, Cindy Breakspeare in 1976, and Carole Joan Crawford in 1963.
Singh had an impressive run after emerging among the hot favorite to win the crown. After winning the talent competition. She performed an impressive choreograph to Koffee’s “Toast” and a live rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” Following the opening ceremony in London on November 20, Singh emerged in the top 40 and then later advanced to the final round on December 14.
