Dancehall Icon Brigadier Jerry Arrested On Gun & Robbery Charges, Held On $250K Bond

Veteran reggae artiste Brigadier Jerry is facing a long list of charges following a shooting incident at a Jamaican restaurant in Connecticut in the United States on Monday night.

The 62-year-old artiste whose real name is Robert Russell has been slapped with first-degree robbery, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal transfer of a pistol and altering a serial number on a firearm, after a card game reportedly turned sour.

According to reports the Waterbury Police was called to a popular eatery after the artiste fired shots causing panic inside the venue. It is further reported that Brigadier Jerry had suspected that someone had stolen his wallet earlier during a card game. He is said to have left the restaurant, but later returned with a gun.

He fired a shot into a wall, which sent card players running for the exit. He then grabbed the cash from the table and left the restaurant in his black BMW motorcar. No one was injured in the gunfire.

The police later found Brigadier Jerry along with the gun and he was arrested and charged. He was held on a $250,000.00 bond.

Brigadier Jerry was born in the Papine area of St Andrew in 1957, and became interested in music at an early age. Originally, he started out with Daddy U-Roy’s King Stur-Gav Hi-Fi sound system that based in Olympic Gardens.

He is well known for his three-the-hard-way clashes with fellow artistes Josey Wales and Charlie Chaplain.
