Reggae Icon Sizzla Hospitalized Following Motorcycle Crash
Reggae/dancehall icon Sizzla is currently hospitalized following a motorcycle crash.
Get-well wishes have begun to pour in for the reggae star after he reportedly sustained a broken ankle, following a motorcycle accident on Saturday. Sources inside Sizzla‘s camp confirmed on Tuesday that the singer was ‘out and stuntin’ on one of his motorcycles along Mona Road in Kingston when he lost control and broke his right ankle.
Source says that Sizzla Kalonji’s injury was severe, and he remains hospitalized in Kingston, according to reporting from Jamaican radio station Irie FM. Amid the well-wishers, there were several criticisms for the 43-year-old Rastafarian on the radio station’s Facebook and Instagram pages, by persons who claimed that he was too old to be doing motorcycle stunts.
“Dam Sizzla. He’s a big man he need to leave those stunts to them youths. Blessings and full recovery though,” one follower stated.
Others admonished the August Town native for failing to learn from his past experience in 2011, when he sustained several broken bones after being hit from his motorbike in Runaway Bay, St. Ann and had to be flown by helicopter from the St. Ann’s Bay hospital for treatment in Kingston.
“He was in the same bike accident in 2011 for doing stunts. Seems like he never learns,” one upset fan stated, while another disappointed reader said while he was sorry to hear, he hoped Sizzla gets well soon, and stops doing “those crazy stunts now.”
“DJ go and buy a Prado and leave bike alone. My dad always told me if u want one hand or one food go get a bike,” another reader posted on Instagram.
The accident will likely force Sizzla to cancel some of his upcoming shows slated for the United States and the Caribbean. He is booked for shows in Barbados, Boston, and Orlando as well as the Thanksgiving Reggae Festival on November 30 in Florida.
