Marion Hall (Lady Saw) now an ordained evangelist

Marion Hall is now an evangelist. The gospel singjay was ordained at Emmanuel Apostolic Church on Slipe Road in Kingston on Sunday morning.

She was baptised at that church on December 14, 2015.

Speaking after her performance at Fun In The Son on Saturday night, Hall said it is God’s will.

“I was called by the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,” she told the Jamaica Observer. “There were many people who came to me and said, ‘The Lord said you’re an evangelist and He’s gonna use you mightily’. A lot of people wanted to ordain me, but I wanted to wait to really know what God wanted me to do. But when God started sending me out with the word to people all over that is me evangelising, so I’m like, ‘okay, God’. I’ve been praying for it and I knew that it’s time, and I didn’t allow anybody else except my Bishop Everton Thomas who baptised me to do the honours.”

Hall said her ministry is not limited to singing.

“A lot of mornings God will just give me a sermon and I’ll just start preaching,” she said. “God wants me to preach a lot of times, so I know it’s not just singing, and He kept telling me it’s not just that He wants me to do. God did put me in a Bible school, but some changes happened and some setbacks that became set ups, but I’ve been talking to the Lord.”

Her sophomore gospel album, His Grace, is currently available for pre-order and is scheduled for release on Friday. Hall performed some songs from the 17-track set at Fun In The Son, including I’m Gonna Fast and Love Like This. She removed her shoes on stage and delivered a lively set filled with testimony, one of which included a $300,000 water bill she incurred after renting a room at her home.

“Normally, if mi a Lady Saw mi would say, ‘Water Commission, unno tief’. But I went up there because Lady Saw spirit is dead. I went to the office and paid $150,000 and I went home and I start pray like Elijah; I prayed for rain, and as soon as I done praying there was so much rain.”

She said she bathed in the rain, and filled pans of water and continued to pray. According to Hall, strangers reached out to her saying God told them to give her cash and the water meter was eventually reconnected. After encouraging patrons to be steadfast and faithful to God, she ended her set by performing Pray For You, a collaboration with Carlene Davis.
