The drama surrounding President Trump’s decision to issue an Executive Order banning people from seven Muslim countries got even more contentious today with a federal judge temporarily halting the President’s ban, deeming it unlawful.
Judge James Robart declared: “The executive order adversely affects the states’ residents in areas of employments, education, business, family relations, and freedom to travel.”

“The work of the court is not to create policy or judge the wisdom of any particular policy promoted by the other two branches. The work of the judiciary, and this court, is limited to ensuring that the actions taken by the other two branches comport with our country’s laws, and more importantly, our constitution.”
Federal Judge James Robart is a Republican and a President George W. Bush appointee. As a result of his ruling, Customs and Border Protection has informed US airlines that they can again board travelers who were barred just a week ago.
Trump’s executive order on immigration has seen about 100,000 people having their visas rescinded.
Washington Governor Jay Inslee responded to Robart’s decision saying, “ No person – not even the President – is above the law.”
The White House has come out fighting and is seeking to overturn Robart’s decision.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said: “At the earliest possible time, the Department of Justice intends to file an emergency stay of this outrageous order and defend the executive order of the President, which we believe is lawful and appropriate. The president’s order is intended to protect the homeland and he has the constitutional authority and responsibility to protect the American people.”
