Vybz Kartel to kick off school refurbishment project

Imprisoned dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel is living up to his monicker as ‘Di Teacha’ through his school refurbishment programme.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, has made moves to spearhead the project from behind bars in an effort to provide assistance to dilapidated schools.

Vybz Kartel associate, Jeffrey Hype, revealed that the artiste wants to assist schools to provide a better standard of education, and facilities for their young charges.

“We have a project where Kartel wants to provide assistance to refurbish schools in terms of repairing furniture, providing paint to beautify the school compound. Right now, we a go around and check out schools but we identify Waterford Primary as the first school we want to help, and he would like to donate computers to the computer lab at Calabar High school,” Jeffrey Hype said.

Any other schools who require assistance would be given on a case by case basis.

“They could write us a letter at [email protected] and we can see how best we can assist because we don’t have unlimited funds, and we know say the needs are great, but Kartel really wants to help in small meaningful ways, even if it is to pay for a plumber to fix the bathrooms at a school, or donating two computers. An no really big money get things done, ah just belief in an idea and the will fi execute it intelligently,” Jeffrey Hype said.
