A tearful farewell for Dancehall Star Nesbeth’s wife

REGGAE singer Nesbeth was a picture of grief at the thanksgiving service for his late wife, Ann-Marie Elliot Nesbeth, held at the New Life Assembly of God on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew, on Saturday.

Too Much For One Man to Bear was Nesbeth’s chant as he paid tribute to his late wife, Ann-Marie Elliott Nesbeth, at the New Life Assembly of God Church on Constant Spring Road, St Andrew, last Saturday.

The entertainer could barely hold back the tears as he paid tribute to his ‘Ann’.

“My wife is a soul that I will always remember. She kept the family together. She didn’t fear death, what she feared most was this gathering where her loved ones would be mourning. Victory was what we were reaching for, but sometimes, our victory and God’s victory is different,” he said.

The singer continued his tribute with a song entitled Too Much For One Man to Bear.

Fourteen-year-old Azan Nia Nesbeth shared memories of her late mother.

“I am confused and I am completely clueless of what my life is going to be without her. She was not only my mother but my best friend. I have told her goodbye a thousand times, but never dreamt of the day when I would have to tell her goodbye for the last time. I miss my mom,” she said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by stepdaughter Sa-Andrea Nesbeth, who described the deceased as a beautiful soul.

“She was more than a step- mom. She was the driving force in my life. She taught us to live for the moment and even in her sick state, she would make us laugh,” she said.

Elliott Nesbeth, 33, passed away on February 17 from complications due to cancer. She is survived by two children.

Interment followed at the Dovecot Memorial Gardens in St Catherine.
