Digital sound systems ‘a mash up’ Jamaican music – Bounty Killer

Jamaican deejay Bounty Killer has called for dancehall selectors to return to the days of playing music on vinyl.

According to the deejay, also known as the ‘Warlord’, there is now an over-reliance on digital recording software – such as Pro Tools – by studio technicans, which gives life to “artistes with no energy”.

He made the complaint during a peformance recently at Pulse8 on Trafalgar Road, following a technical difficulty with the sound system.

“Bring back the days of vinyl,” he stated in his rant.

“Digital systems a mash up Jamaica. Bring back the days of analog, vinyl and even CDs,” he said.

Bounty enjoyed the height of his career in the 1990s, prior to the transition to digital production.
