Edwin Allen win two of four 4×100 at Gibson/McCook Relays

Edwin Allen won two of the 4×100-metre relays for girls at the Gibson/McCook Relays on Saturday at the National Stadium.

The Clarendon-based school won the Class Three and Class Four sprint relays.

In the Girls’ Class Four 4×100-metre relay, St Catherine High closed rapidly on Edwin Allen, but the Clarendon-based school held on to win in 46.1. St Catherine High had to settle for second in 46.17. St. Jago was third in 46.34.

The Girls’ Class Four  4×100-metre relay was a ding dong battle between Edwin Allen and Hydel.

Edwin Allen held off the challenge to win in 47.58 seconds with Hydel doing 47.70 and Wolmer’s Girls finishing third in 47.80.

The Girls’ Class One 4×100-metre relay was won by St Jago after favourites Holmwood Technical messed up their baton exchange on the first leg.

St Jago recorded a time of 45.77 seconds for the victory to finish ahead of Green Island who did 45.84 as Camperdown ended third in 45.92.

In the Girls’ Class Two 4×100-metre relays, Kimone Shaw produced a brilliant run in the final leg, but still had to settle for second, as she failed to carry St Jago past Holmwood.

Holmwood won in 46.02 seconds with St Jago finishing second in 46.07 as Edwin Allen was third in 46.77.
