Macka Diamond Talks About Her Baptism Decision

Dancehall artiste Macka Diamond, while lauding former rival Lady Saw on her recent baptism, says she is not sure when she will make her own “conversion”.

Macka Diamond recently recorded a new gospel song, Praise God alongside fellow artiste, Unicorn, which was produced by Danny Browne. She performed the song at the Pembroke Hall community centre recently to rave reviews from the large audience.

She also worships at the Greater Works International ministry which meets at the Pembroke Hall Primary school. However, according to the deejay, “I am not ready to be baptised yet, I am still learning and preparing for what the future and God may hold for me.”

Last week, Lady Saw, whose real name is Marion Hall, was formally baptised, and is now making amends with her past rivals. In an open letter published on several blogs, she apologised for all her past transgressions, and asked her former dancehall rivals Tifa, Spice and Macka Diamond to forgive her for past hurt she may have caused them.

Macka Diamond, whose real name is Charmaine Munroe, welcomed Lady Saw’s apology and reciprocated her love and appreciation for the ‘Queen of Dancehall’.

“You will always be the queen of dancehall, and you will be a queen in the church because you are so talented, and that makes you great at everything you decide to do. She is going to make a big impact, and bring a lot of souls to God,” Macka Diamond said.
