1016 people murdered in Jamaica since start of year
Nearly 2 hundred more persons were murdered across the island up to Saturday, when compared to the same period, last year.
One thousand and sixteen murders were committed across the island, up to last Saturday.
The figure was provided by the JamaicaConstabulary Force, in its latest updateon serious and violent crimes.
The 1016 murders, reflect 194 more murders, than were committed up to the same time last year.
Its also the highest figure in the last five years, over the close to ten month-period.
The data provided by the police, continue to indicate that St. James has the highest number of murders, with 178 up to Saturday.
While Westmoreland with 84, St. Catherine south 72 , St. Adrew south 66, and Hanover with 54, are the other police divisions with high numbers of murders between January and October 24.
The least number of murders were committed in Portland. That parish recorded 8 murders.
