Buju Banton releases song from prison!

Dancehall veteran Buju Banton has released a song from behind bars. The song, ‘My Favourite Song’, features rising singer Marco. It was produced by Mark Hudson for Stone Cold Records.

My Favourite Song is a pop song with singing vocals comparable to boy groups Backstreet Boys or N Sync. It is one of a few new recordings featuring Banton, which have been released after he was incarcerated in 2009.

Banton won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae album in 2011 for Before the Dawn. Is known for a string of hits from the early 1990s – Love Mi Browning, Love Black Woman, Bogle, Not An Easy Road, 2 Bad, Murderer, Driver and Operation Ardent.

Marco, who was a toddler when Banton burst on the music scene, said the legendary entertainer has been a favourite of his for years. He explained the influence Banton’s music has had on him.

“Buju showed me that you can be versatile and still remain the same, and that’s what makes Buju the great entertainer that he is,” Marco explained.

He explained how the story behind My Favourite Song began and why it was necessary to include Banton’s vocals on the recording.

“Everybody has had that favourite-song moment when that special person had stuck in their head, so I just put words to that feeling, and my favourite song was created. Buju’s vocals expressed the need to see the person, and it was perfect,” he added.

Marco, who met the enigmatic Banton when he was younger, pointed to Make My Day as his favourite song from the entertainer.

Plans are in place to shoot a video for My Favourite Song.
