A huge snake was reportedly found in Garlands, Montego Bay on Friday morning.

A photo showing two frightened-looking women taking pictures of the snake – which appears to be a Jamaican Boa – has been circulating on social media. Some observers on social media expressed disbelief that a snake that big could be found out in the wild in Jamaica.

“There was one in my country who was 5 feet long but I never knew we had snakes this big out here,” said a Niq Ricketts.

Myueng Cox was among the many who expressed fear.

“I would just die seeing that. Look at its size. Jeez! No more Mobay for me,” she said.

The Jamaican Boa, otherwise called the Yellow Snake, is a nonvenomous snake that is endemic to Jamaica. It is among the island’s protected species.
