Florida court issues arrest warrant for Jamaican entertainer Deva Bratt

The Palm Beach County Courthouse in West Palm Beach, Florida has issued a warrant for the arrest of beleaguered Jamaican entertainer Deva Bratt.

Deva Bratt, who was scheduled to answer to charges of driving without a valid licence yesterday, June 1, did not appear in court.

The whereabouts of the dancehall artiste, whose given name is Sheldon Owen Smith, are unknown as efforts made contact the deejay’s court-appointed attorney, Public Defender Daniel Lewin, were unsuccessful.

According to a worker highly placed in the Florida court, Smith “was supposed to appear in court at 9:00 this morning (Monday).”

“An open warrant was issued [and] he’ll be arrested and given no bond,” the court worker continued.

Unfortunately for Deva Bratt, his no-show in court is just the latest in a string of repeated incidents involving him.

In April, the Kartel-led Portmore Empire entertainer had his battery case in Boca Raton, Florida, thrown out due to an “uncooperative victim.”

What’s more, Deva Bratt was also acquitted of indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm of two females in the Spanish Town RM Court in St Catherine in 2012.

Prior to that, he was freed of a carnal abuse charge following an incident in 2008 involving a minor.
