Standing ovation for Tessanne Chin in New York (Video)
Jamaican songstress and season five winner of The Voice, Tessanne Chin proved her star power and displayed stunning vocal range while performing at the sold out ‘Voices In Concert’ held at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday night.
For more than an hour she served up a tasty musical treat of reggae, soul and pop including her first hit single Hideaway, Stronger, Redemption Song, My Kind Of Love, Tumbling Down and Try for the 3,000 plus fans who were there to see her perform.
Midway through her set she earned a five-minute long standing ovation after a riveting, spine chilling rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing that was perfectly executed.
“She killed it! It was a performance that Whitney would be proud of if she was here to see it,” one excited fan from Long Island shouted.
Tessanne recently performed at a Youth Forum hosted by US President Barack Obama at the University of the West Indies in Kingston.
American Idol winner Fantasia, who announced that she was dedicating her performance to her recently deceased grandmother, brought the curtain down on a fabulous event.
While Fantasia’s vocals were no match for powerhouse singer Tessanne, she had better interaction with fans and had the packed theatre on its feet, engaging fans with classic hits like Lose To Win, Free Yourself, Ain’t Gon’ Beg You, Bitter Sweet and Baby Making Hips.
