Attempts being made to secure release of teen terror suspect

The attorney representing the 16-year-old Jamaican who is suspected of making an attempt to join terrorist group ISIS, will seek to secure his release today.

The teen was held in Suriname on the weekend after being suspected of making contact with the notorious group. His family has since denied those claims, saying he was headed to England to be with his mother.

He is to be questioned today by cops from the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch (C-TOC).

The teen’s attorney, Zhara Lewis, is expected to file a writ of habeus Corpus on his behalf in the Family Court.

He was held in Suriname on his way to the Netherlands.

Security Minister Peter Bunting is reported as saying the boy was held due to the vigilance of the Jamaican authorities.
