Deika Morrison takes on Lisa Hanna over Chronixx comments
A former People’s National Party (PNP) senator has taken off the gloves and is firing some wicked punches aimed at youth and culture minister Lisa Hanna.
“Pickney a dead and ah get rape off everyday and dis is what dem have time fi talk bout? I am clearly daft,” Deika Morrison, who served in the Senate during the PJ Patterson administration, said.
The bone of contention surrounds a caution from Hanna to reggae artise Chronixx that he be more circumspect in his language.
Hanna… said Chronixx needs to find other ways to express himself.
Chronixx criticised Jamaicans for “glorifying some waste man” during US President Barack Obama’s visit as he expressed displeasure about the fact that Marcus Garvey still has a criminal record in the United States due to what many believe are trumped up charges which were used to slow his strides.
Hanna, in response to Chronixx’s comments, said the artiste needs to find other ways to express displeasure “without taking it out personally on the other person”.
Morrison, unimpressed by Hanna’s intervention in the matter, questioned whether Obama or any US Cabinet member has ever called for any American artiste to publicly ‘cool it’.

“[Bob] Marley talk nuff militant tings, and Obama still reach ah him yaad first. The man is an artist. Fans will sort it out,” Morrison said.
She argued that “last week, 22 year old was “best hope” ah box shame outta wi eye”.
“He badly phrased something PM herself asked for. It warrants a “cool it”?
It’s not the first time that Hanna and Chronixx have had a public disagreement. The two butted heads last September after Chronixx lashed out against what he described as a ‘dumb government’ that’s not doing enough for reggae music.
