Shaggy’s wife shows pride in “this likkle bwoy from Ray Town”
Grammy award winning reggae artiste, Orville Richard Burrell, better known as Shaggy, received the Luminary Award on Saturday March 28, at the sixth annual University of the West Indies Toronto Benefit Gala, at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto.
The Luminary Award is given to people of Caribbean Heritage, who are outstanding achievers on an international scale in their respective fields or people who have brought to prominence issues, which affect the Caribbean.
The wife of ‘Mr Boombastic’, Rebecca Packer Burrell, took to social media to express just how incredibly proud she is of all that her husband has accomplished.
“This likkle bwoy from Ray Town pushed beyond his boundaries and paved the way musically as an ambassador for our music, this coupled with his philanthropic efforts for Jamaica’s children and the Bustamante Hospital for children, not to mention the numerous charities he lends his support to including #FoodforthePoor and#FatherHolung’s #BrothersofthePoor makes this recognition all the more well deserved,” she continued.
Rebecca Burrell’s words are a reminder to all the other ‘likkle bwoys’ from Ray Town or any other troubled community that hard work and dedication can lead to greatness.
