The world now has more than two thousand billionaires

The number of billionaires in the world has surpassed two thousand for the first time, with 67 countries now home to at least one person valued at more than 1 billion dollars.

All told, there are now 2,089 billionaires, worldwide.

The United States, with 537, has the most, followed by China with 430, India with 97, Russia with 93 and Britain with 80 billionaires.

Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, is still the richest person in the world with US$85 billion, followed by Mexico’s Carlos Slim who is worth $83 billion and Warren Buffett, in third with $76 billion.
