Jamaicans no longer need a visa to travel to Brazil

Jamaicans will no longer require a visa to travel to Samba land.

The Portia Simpson Miller-led Cabinet has approved an agreement between Jamaica and Brazil on the exemption of visa requirements for their respective nationals.

“The arrangement will serve to deepen the bilateral trade ties between Jamaica and the Federal Republic of Brazil,” the government said.

“The visa-free regime will now allow free movement by nationals of Jamaica and Brazil across the borders of either country, thereby creating a platform for enhanced trade, business and tourism, and facilitating increased exchanges in culture, education and sports,” a Cabinet document said.

Meanwhile, Cabinet approved the conditional waiver of visa requirements for nationals of Guatemala who were holders of diplomatic and official passports, for up to 90 days.

The agreement, the government said, is aimed at promoting increased bilateral relations between Jamaica and Guatemala.
