Bog Walk Gorge, Jamaica flooded, motorists trapped
ST CATHERINE Jamaica — Heavy rains this morning have resulted in the flooding of the Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine trapping several motorists inside as the Rio Cobre rises across the roadway.
Numerous vehicles, including trucks and minibuses are now unable to exit the gorge as a sudden rush of high water at various points has blocked traffic movement.
On motorist Anthony Taylor told OBSERVER ONLINE that he lost a vehicle under similar circumstances 13 years ago. “I had to be rescued by helicopter,” he said. “They need to hurry with an alternative and abandon this roadway,” Taylor added.
Trapped motorists in the meantime have found a high point in the Gorge and are waiting on the water to subside.
