Jamaican -born nurse in first U.S. Ebola case still self monitoring

Sydia Rose, a Jamaican-born nurse, who was among medical personnel who treated the first Ebola case in the U.S has recounted her experience and is still self-monitoring for symptoms.

In an interview aired last night on ‘CBS 60-minutes,’ Sydia Rose spoke about going to great lengths in trying to keep Thomas Eric Duncan alive. He was taken to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital for treatment on September 28.

The Jamaican nurse said she broke down in tears after being told that she would be treating an Ebola case but she didnt allow fear to paralyse her. Mr. Duncan died on October 8.

Two health care workers became infected with Ebola, 26-year-old nurse Nina Pham and 29-year-old nurse Amber Vinson, both of  who had taken care of  him at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Both have since recovered.
