Angie Martinez has announced her resignation from New York’s top hip-hop radio station Hot 97 after 15 years.

Martinez, who is known on the station as DJ Angie Martinez, made the announcement today via her Instagram page and says today will be her last show.

This is what she wrote on Instagram:

Today I resigned from HOT97. I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever. This was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. Saying goodbye is always emotional and bitter sweet but I am extremely excited about the future. Thank you HOT97 and most importantly….the listeners… for an unimaginable journey. Today will be my last show ?? stay tuned…. Love, angie

Hot 97 also confirmed her resignation via Twitter.

Angie Martinez has been working with Hot 97 since she was 18 years old, starting out as an intern and then working her way up.

During her time there, she intervened some of the biggest names in hip-hop including Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye West, and the late Tupac Shakur.

Speaking with Complex Magazine in April, Angie Martinez reflect on a two hour long interview that she did with Tupac Shakur that she had to edit down to a few minutes for radio.

She said she still have that interview to date.

“I been wanting to reach out to his mother,” Martinez said. “If his mother says, ‘Yeah, put it out’ then maybe I would just put it out.”
