Pastor Dies After Collapsing in Water During Baptism in Linstead

Members of the Jew Pen Lighthouse Pentecostal Church are in disbelief following the death of a male who is said to be the pastor of the church during a baptismal ceremony on Sunday, December 18.

The victim was confirmed as 65-year-old Feddie Willis of St. Catherine’s Jew Pen.

Willis was reportedly about to perform a baptism on a church member in the church pool area when he collapsed in the water, he was rushed to Linstead Hospital, where he was admitted but was later pronounced dead.

Willis was said to be a righteous person, and according to many, his passing was devastating. Many took to social media to express their support for family and friends.

“My sincere condolences to Pastor Willis’s family at this time of grief. My heart is broken 😭but we do not weep as others do because his hope was In the Lord. I hope and pray for peace and comfort for his family and the church family as well,” a person said via Facebook.

Many debates allege that the cause of death was acute heart failure. However, only an autopsy can provide more insight into the unfortunate incident.

Although many perceive the cause of death to be natural, the Bog Walk Police Station is probing the matter.
