The dancehall star Beenie Man, breached the Disaster Risk Management Act, when he hosted an illegal party in Shrewsbury district, St Elizabeth, on Sunday, November 29, 2020. In December, the 47-year-old popular dancehall artiste was charged by the Black River police and he plead guilty not long after.

He was fined $150,000 in the St Elizabeth Parish Court recently.

Beenie Man, whose given name is Moses Davis stated that he didn’t want to give the impression that he was above the law, and he wants the people to know that he is with them. He wanted the people to feel safe so he had to handle the case in the right way.

He was represented by attorney Roderick Gordon when he faced the Court.
