KINGSTON, Jamaica — Ace sprinter Usain Bolt has made an appeal on Twitter for the return of a pair of his signed running shoes that were recently stolen in London.

The spikes signed by Bolt and framed for display with a photo of the athlete after he set the 100-metre world record in 2009 was stolen in South London sometime in April.

Bolt’s first tweet came at approximately midday and was accompanied by a picture of a story about the stolen shoes.

“Breaking News.. All you had to do was just ask me for one… No need to go stealing the ppl things. Come on now.” He tweeted.

About two hours later Bolt posted another photo showing him signing new pairs of running shoes accompanied by the tweet: “Only natural I sign sum spikes after one of my overly excited fan stole that one..FedEx straight to London later.”

The orange Puma shoes were reportedly auctioned off during a sporting memorabilia sale at Sotheby’s in November 2012 and are valued at about £20,000.
